...like the river finds the sea

I would like to share the text of a beautiful poem by Whitney Hanson which I came across coincidentally. May its grace and depth touch you like it touches me.

they say that sometimes love starts with a spark

and that might be true

but if I were to wish you a love I wouldn't wish fire for you

you see - fire is powerful

it burns bright and it's gone

it's beautiful and warm but it doesn't last long

so instead of wishing you a love that burns

I wish you love like a river that twists and turns

it changes and flows

it is powerful and free

but it consistently finds its way back to the sea

and so like the water

I hope your love is ever- growing ever-changing

I hope your love is powerful and free

and may you always find each other like the river finds the sea

Man sagt, dass die Liebe manchmal mit einem Funken beginnt. Und das könnte wahr sein, aber wenn ich Euch eine Liebe wünschen würde, würde ich für Euch kein Feuer wünschen.

Wisst ihr, Feuer ist mächtig, es brennt hell und vergeht. Es ist schön und warm, aber es hält nicht an.

So, anstatt Euch Liebe zu wünschen, die brennt, wünsche ich Euch Liebe wie ein Fluss, der sich windet und wendet.

Er verändert sich und fliesst, er ist kraftvoll und frei. Aber er findet immer wieder den Weg zurück ins Meer.

Und so, wie das Wasser, hoffe ich, dass Euere Liebe fortwährend wachsend und sich fortwährend verändernd ist.

Ich hoffe, Euere Liebe ist kraftvoll und frei.

Und möget ihr einander immer finden... wie der Fluss das Meer.
